Abstract: This paper presents a survey on Chinese painting and calligraphy simulation.The features and the fundamental requirements of Chinese painting and calligraphy simulation are introduced.2D hairy brush model, 3D hairy brush model and parametric curve scheme are analyzed and various algorithms are compared.Finally,some open problems and possible promising issues are discussed.
